This is Why You Can't Connect

Hello Fellow Gamers,

We have just realized that the Hosts File Hijacking is back and private servers are doing it now! If you have installed a patch from another server and haven't been able to connect to our server by having a clean Hi-5 install and using our instructions YOU PROBABLY HAVE BEEN HIJACKED!!!

What This Means: Many private servers require you to download a patch to play. A lot of these servers have the patch programmed to Hijack your hosts files and DNS settings. This way you can't join other servers and lots of players just can't figure it out.

For those of you that have followed our instructions, used the Hosts patcher we provided and the GG Patch and STILL CAN'T CONNECT you are most likely a victim of Hijacking.

For members that suspect they have been Hijacked, here are some instructions:

2b) *NOTE: As this problem is usually caused by spyware by other server patches "hi-jacking" your "hosts" file, it is good idea to run spyware removal software before making this change to avoid the spyware undoing your changes. Open Regedit and open the following key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Current/ControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters". Check that "DataBasePath" contains the following data "%SystemRoot%/System32/drivers/etc", if it does not, change it to the aforementioned data. Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2c.

2c) In a command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2d.

2d) Open "Control Panel", then "Administrative Tools" then "Services". Double click "DNS Client" click "Stop" and change "Startup type" to "Disabled". Try to connect.

Also, a lot of private servers that require you to download patches edit your system folder L2.ini. We don't do this as we want you to have the convenience to play or not to play. To get a clean Hi-5 System Folder with the GG Patch already installed go to this link:
