GG Errors and Problems Connecting to Hi5 Server
Hello there,
It has come to our attention that many players have been experiencing log in and gamegaurd problems when attempting to connect to our server.
We are sorry that members have been having trouble with this. Below are some things to keep in mind and some fixes for connecting to the server!
*Make sure you have a CLEAN install of the High Five Client. Do not use the updater to launch the game. If you have used the updater you must un install the client and reinstall.
*(Optional Fix, If you havent already) If you do not have a way to Launch L2 without the launcher go into your system folder (c:\program files\ncsoft\lineage 2\system) and find the L2.bin file. Change the extension to L2.exe and you will be able to launch the game without the updater.
a.)The easiest way to access your game is to make a shortcut of your L2.exe on
your desktop.
*Hosts File: Blow is an example of a Hosts File. If you have installed the gamegaurd fix made by Fyyre then you should be able to set it up like this with no problem:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
173.174.152.47 L2authd.Lineage2.com
Troubleshooting the hosts file
NOTE: If you have MSN messenger installed check for file called hosts.msn and if exists, edit this one instead of default Windows host file.
If you have a problem connecting to the server ( account and password do not match ) Try this:
Troubleshooting the Hosts method
1) Make sure your spelling and Capitalization is correct. Use only letters and numbers for your username and password. If you still get the error continue on to 2.
2) In a command prompt type "ping L2authd.lineage2.com" If you see "Pinging L2authd.lineage2.com [206.127.151.66] with 32 bytes of data:" then you are connecting to NCSoft, continue on to 2a. If you see "Pinging L2authd.lineage2.com [173.174.152.47] with 32 bytes of data:" then you are connecting to our server, skip to 3.
2a) Check that your "hosts" file contains a line with "173.174.152.47 L2authd.lineage2.com" and only one instance of "L2authd.lineage2.com". Also check that you have not accidentally created a "hosts.txt", it should be an extensionless "hosts" file. Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2b.
2b) *NOTE: As this problem is usually caused by spyware "hi-jacking" your "hosts" file, it is good idea to run spyware removal software before making this change to avoid the spyware undoing your changes. Open Regedit and open the following key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/Current/ControlSet/Services/Tcpip/Parameters". Check that "DataBasePath" contains the following data "%SystemRoot%/System32/drivers/etc", if it does not, change it to the aforementioned data. Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2c.
2c) In a command prompt type "ipconfig /flushdns" Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2d.
2d) Open "Control Panel", then "Administrative Tools" then "Services". Double click "DNS Client" click "Stop" and change "Startup type" to "Disabled". Try to connect, if you still get the error, continue on to 2e.
2e) In a command prompt type "ping L2authd.lineage2.com" again. If you see "Pinging L2authd.lineage2.com [173.174.152.47] with 32 bytes of data:" then you are connecting to Your server, continue on to 3. If you see "Pinging L2authd.lineage2.com [206.127.151.66] with 32 bytes of data:" then you are still connecting to NCSoft, try setting up your "Hosts" file again.
3) Try to connect, if you still get the error set up the hosts file again.
If none of this helps you fix your connection problem then there must be a problem with your computer or internet connection. If you continue to get an error, or find a fix, please post it on the forums so others can learn from you.
Thanks
